4th Caisse Alliance AGM: A very special farewell to our President, happy winners of our contests, and an important announcement for the Hearst community

NORTH BAY, April 28, 2022 – The 4th Annual General Meeting of Caisse Alliance was held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. in virtually via Zoom as well as in person at the Place des Arts in Hearst.

AGM

During the hybrid evening, more than 450 members attended the meeting. Members who wish to consult the Caisse’s annual report and financial statements are invited to go to caisseealliance.com. Copies of the annual report will also be available at our branches. In addition to these documents, the video recording of the meeting will also be available through our website in the coming days. Members of the management team as well as regional directors remain available to answer questions from members.

The Caisse had an excellent financial year in 2021. Its assets now stand at $2.1 billion, an increase of 9.8% from 2020. Profits before taxes and dividends were approximately $10 million. In light of these results and the Fund’s level of capitalization, the Board of Directors declared a distribution to members of over $4.4 million. In addition, during the presentation of the 2021 social involvement, the Caisse revealed that it had distributed a total of $646,309 to its communities in 2021. Community involvement is part of the Caisses’ values. The Caisse is therefore living up to its vision of being a key economic driver in its communities. “Thank you to our members who place their trust in us day after day. It is thanks to your loyalty and dedication that we are able to achieve the great results we are experiencing,” added Philippe Boissonneault, outgoing chairman of the Board.

Board of Directors

During the meeting, the delegates adopted amendments to the by-law and four directors were elected by acclamation. They are Mrs. Sonia Gravel, Mr. GrĂ©goire Lefebvre, Mr. Paul Levesque and Mr. AndrĂ© Lefebvre. The end of the last mandate of the president, Philippe Boissonneault, was highlighted after nearly 40 years of involvement in the governance of the Northern Ontario credit union network.  “Thank you for everything! In my mind, you are one of the great builders of the beautiful and great institution that we have the opportunity to name today: our Caisse Alliance,” said Pierre Dorval, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Caisse Alliance. GrĂ©goire Lefebvre will take over the reins. The President ensures the efficient management of the Caisse Alliance and we are confident that GrĂ©goire will rise to the challenge.

The Caisse also announced the winner of the 2023 calendar contest with the theme “My community, my contribution.” In order to create its 2023 traditional calendar, the Caisse launched a call to the youth in its communities asking them to submit artwork. Through this contest, the Caisse wanted to raise awareness of sustainable development in its communities and encourage them to get involved. For each region, one winner was selected by the members of the regional cooperative committees and one winner was chosen at random. To determine which drawing would be featured on the title page of the calendar, the Caisse invited people vote on its Facebook page. The artist who created the artwork that will be on the title page of the 2023 calendar and who will receive $450 is Emmanuelle Caron from Timmins.

Hearst 100th Anniversary Announcement

Finally, Pierre Richard, Regional Director of the North-West region, took the opportunity to announce the official launch of a Caisse Alliance community project. The TOGETHER project is an initiative taking place on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Town of Hearst.   “We want to encourage at least 100 people to donate $100 each to raise $10,000. If this objective of 100 donations of $100 is reached, the Caisse Alliance Fund will double the amount by giving an additional donation of $10,000. As part of the project, we invite donors and the community to submit ideas for community projects that will have a long-term impact on Hearst, and the 100 donors will determine which of these projects will receive the $20,000,” explains Pierre Richard. All the details are available on the Hearst region Facebook page and at the branch.

We would like to thank all the members who attended the Caisse’s annual general meeting.

At the Caisse Alliance, your happiness is capital!
