Interest rate: Variable, depending on the amount of the loan. The student line of credit is characterized by its relatively low interest rate compared to other types of loans.

Term: Maximum amortization of 10 years.

Repayment: Pay only the interest while you are in school and begin repayment of the principal only after you have graduated.

ADVANTAGE Line of Credit
  • A credit limit that matches your program costs and financial needs

You could get up to $60,000 depending on your program, with approved credit.

 STRATEGIC Line of Credit
  • A credit limit for a student enrolled in a professional or specialized graduate program. Medical and dental students are also eligible.

You could get up to $350,000 depending on your program, with approved credit.

Maximum Amount Allocated The amount allocated is determined by:

  • The type of program followed
  • The length of the program
  • Whether the program is offered on a part-time or full-time basis
Repayment
  • Weekly, bi-weekly or monthly
  • Payment can be made by automatic debit from your account or by external debit
  • Possibility of total or partial repayment before maturity, at any time, without penalties
  • First principal payment can be deferred for up to 24 months after graduation
Terms Offered
  • Talk to your advisor about an amortization period that will fit your budget, up to a maximum of 10 years.

  • Confirmation that you are enrolled in a postsecondary program
  • An overview of the costs related to your studies (including tuition, books, living expenses, housing, etc.)
  • A list of your financial resources (including RESPs, bursaries, government grants, summer employment income, etc.
