PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION
STURGEON FALLS, December 16, 2020 – With the Holidays around the corner, the Caisse Alliance’s Nipissing Central Region is proud to have given back over $8,000 to four community organizations, thereby contributing to a host of West Nipissing initiatives.
The Caisse donated two iPads to Sturgeon Falls’ Au Château Home for the Aged. This project aims to put an end to isolation, especially in these pandemic times. Thanks to these devices, residents can virtually communicate with their families, keeping them safe, healthy and connected during the Holiday season.
The Caisse also launched a nonperishable food drive for the West Nipissing Food Bank. Since early November, members have been invited to drop off food items or donate money in person at the Sturgeon Falls and Field branches. The Caisse donated $370 to match the amount donated by the members. On December 11, the food items and money collected have been donated to the West Nipissing Food Bank. As members have noticed, there is a Christmas tree on a table near the Sturgeon Falls branch entrance. All are welcome to embellish it with decorations such as socks, tuques, and mittens, which will be sent to the Horizon Women’s Centre. The staff have also agreed to donate $500 to the Centre.
Finally, the Caisse supported the West Nipissing Fire Service at its annual telethon. This event helps over 150 families in need in the community. Because of restrictions related to COVID-19, an auction and a radiothon were held in November. The Caisse donated a prize of a $1,000 value to the West Nipissing Santa Fund Radiothon, consisting of a $500 gift basket and a $500 gift card for local businesses. The Caisse also contributed $5,000 to help the organization reach its $35,000 goal and volunteered human resources time to the radiothon: nine Caisse staff members gave their time to take calls.
What lovely Holiday initiatives!
