PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KAPUSKASING, October 2 , 2025 – Like the vast majority of people in our region, Caisse Alliance received with apprehension and concern the news of the operations idling of Kap Paper. The Caisse therefore wishes to speak to its members, to the people of Kapuskasing and surrounding communities, as well as to everyone affected by the uncertain future of the Kapuskasing Mill.
This situation affects each and every one of us, directly or indirectly: our family members, friends, neighbors, and many others within our community. For numerous families, Kap Paper is much more than just a workplace, it is a community pillar and a vital part of our collective history, passed down from generation to generation.
This news has created deep uncertainty within our community, and we are committed to supporting our members through this difficult time,” said Grégoire Lefebvre, Chair of the Board of Directors at Caisse Alliance. “Our hearts are with them.”
True to its commitment to the community, Caisse Alliance remains attentive to the needs of its members and is closely monitoring the situation. Our team is available to provide guidance, advice and support to help address the various concerns that may arise.
“This situation has a significant impact on the economy of our community and the entire region. Behind every job, there are people, stories, and dreams. But here in the North, we have an incredible strength: solidarity,” added Pierre Dorval, President and CEO. “Kapuskasing and the surrounding communities have always found a way to rise together and now, more than ever, we need to stand united.”
