2024 AGM: COOPERATIVE DISTINCTION, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
Enviable financial results, generous dividends, and a project described as a historic milestone
NORTH BAY, April 24, 2024 – As part of its 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held yesterday, April 23, in person at Centre culturel La Ronde in Timmins, and simultaneously broadcast online, Caisse Alliance’s management team presented their members with an enviable financial statement for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023, and a report on the Mission Distinction project, which has been described as a historic milestone.
Mission Distinction
According to the President and Chief Executive Officer of Caisse Alliance, Mr. Pierre Dorval, “The overall outcome of the project is positive and encourages us to look to the future with optimism”. By fully assuming its leadership role, Caisse Alliance has brought to fruition, in 2023, a large-scale project – a complete technological restructuring to meet its members’ current and future needs and to preserve its autonomy and decision-making ability in Northern Ontario. To meet demands and ensure optimal satisfaction, Caisse Alliance continues to innovate and improve.
“We are aware of the scale of the changes involved. We would like to acknowledge the invaluable collaboration of our partners and our individual and business members in this project, mentions Mr. Dorval. During this transition, member services were fully engaged. We are truly grateful for the efforts and perseverance of our team who have worked together in a spirit of solidarity.”
Financial Results
“The Caisse posted a solid financial performance, and the Mission Distinction project was completed on budget,” announced Caisse Alliance Chair of the Board of Directors, Mr. GrĂ©goire Lefebvre.
With assets exceeding the $2.4 billion mark, Caisse Alliance is among Ontario’s 10 largest credit unions and caisses populaires and the 27th largest in Canada (excluding Quebec). Since its merger on January 1, 2018, the Caisse has achieved growth of 58% and will soon have increased its assets by over $1 billion. It posts excellent earnings of $17.4 million before member dividends and taxes for 2023, with member loans surpassing $2 billion and member deposits also nearing $2 billion.
“In our 6th year of existence, we have excelled both in terms of innovation and the financial health of our cooperative,” he adds.
Member Dividends and Community Contributions
Caisse Alliance’s solid capital position has enabled its Board of Directors to once again distribute generous community and member dividends of just over $3.5 million. In six consecutive years, a total of $26 million has been paid out in Northern Ontario.
“We share our prosperity through our cooperative spirit. We invest in your values and your passions, in your infrastructures and your communities,” adds Mr. Dorval. “Being part of Caisse Alliance is a choice that has a major impact.”
Board of Directors and Governance
“Our Board of Directors implements inclusive practices. It is comprised of 12 members who equitably represent each of our six regions in the North and Nipissing. There are regional cooperative committees representing our members in our six regions,” says Mr. Lefebvre.
At the AGM, four directors were elected by acclamation. They are StĂ©phane Gallant (North-East region), Olivier Cabana (North-West region), Kevin Cloutier (Nipissing-East region) and Pierrette Desrochers (Nipissing-West region). “We congratulate them on their renewed commitment and extend a warm welcome to Ms. Desrochers who was a member of the regional cooperative committee in the Nipissing-West region,” concludes the President.
