Here\u2019s how:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Housing<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>If you\u2019re renting, find a roomate and share the costs.<\/li>\n<li>If possible, live with your parents (even though you\u2019d like to move out). Take advantage of this time to put money aside: later on, you\u2019ll have the means to rent an apartment you really like.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Transportation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Come springtime, park your car, don\u2019t buy your monthly bus and metro pass, and bike or walk to school, if possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Food<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring a lunch instead of eating at the cafeteria or restaurant.<\/li>\n<li>Buy juice boxes, yogurts and granola bars in large quantities and bring some to school. You\u2019ll be less tempted by the vending machines.<\/li>\n<li>Stock up on essential items on sale at the grocery store or pharmacy (toilet paper, facial tissue, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Cook your own meals instead of eating out. Prepare more and bring leftovers for lunch the next day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Outings<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Never go out without setting a budget for the evening and\u00a0<strong>respect it<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Footing the bill is a nice but expense gesture. Be generous without compromising your financial health.<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>School books<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Check your school\u2019s bulletin board for used books: they\u2019re still good and much less expensive than new ones!<\/li>\n<li>Keep your books in good condition and sell them to younger students at the end of the semester.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Working<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">Find a part-time job near your home or school. Extra income is always good!<\/li>\n<li>Remember that work income could affect the amount you\u2019ll receive in loans and bursaries from the government.
