Check out this list of tips to help you save money during your trip.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Getting foreign currency beforehand<\/h2>\n<p>Visit your Caisse populaire to get the foreign currency you\u2019ll need before you leave. Go several days in advance because some currencies (e.g., the euro) have to be ordered in advance by the Caisse populaire.<\/p>\n<p>Avoid exchange offices located in airports; their rates (and fees) are often higher.<\/p>\n<p>Keep an eye out for the best exchange rate and make sure you get the most for your money.<\/p>\n<p>For example, if US$1 (US dollar) today is worth C$1.10 (Canadian dollar) and C$0.90 a few days later, you\u2019ll save $0.10 per US dollar bought if you wait a little to get the amount you\u2019ll need.<\/p>\n<p>To find out how much the Canadian dollar is worth in other countries, see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bankofcanada.ca\/rates\/exchange\/currency-converter\/\">Currency converter.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once on location, you\u2019ll be able to withdraw money from any ATM bearing the \u201cPLUS\u201d symbol.<\/p>\n<h2>Lodging<\/h2>\n<p>Opt for youth hostels. In addition to cheaper lodging, they\u2019ll provide you with a place to meet other travellers and to prepare meals.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll find that it\u2019s even more economical to camp, if you have the gear!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Eating<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s better to go to the grocery stores and prepare your own meals whenever possible. Eating 3 meals a day at the restaurant is expensive!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Touring<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Guided tours can be pricey and aren\u2019t always worth it. If you feel safe in the country you\u2019re visiting, you can tour the area on foot and talk to the people who live there. It won\u2019t cost you a thing!<\/p>\n<p>Get away from tourist spots (as long as it\u2019s safe!).
