\nScammers often pose as law enforcement officers or government agencies. They\u00a0usually say you will be arrested, deported or fined if you do not pay your\u00a0taxes or other debt immediately. Real law enforcement or government agencies\u00a0will not call you to threaten you.<\/p>\n

Scammers want you to pay in a way that will make it difficult to recover your money. They will often tell you to make a wire transfer, put money on a gift card or a prepaid credit card.<\/p>\n

Never give your personal information, such as your social insurance number or\u00a0account details, to someone who calls you out of the blue.<\/p>\n
