An administrative fee will be added to each contract, regardless of the number of persons insured under the contract.

Family premium – The cost of insurance is the sum of the premiums for the 2 oldest family members.

  • The Multicoverage Plus Package offers the same coverages as the Multicoverage Package, but coverage amounts are higher.
Frequent Travel Package

  • BaggageFor those who travel more than once a year outside their province of residence.
  • The Frequent Travel Package is effective for 1 year for all trips of 23 consecutive days or less outside your province of residence.

Coverages

Emergency Health Care

Reimburses you up to $5,000,000 for emergency care received outside your province of residence. Covers transportation or repatriation expenses incurred for medical reasons or in the event of death.

Accident

Compensation for loss of use or accidental death while aboard an aircraft or traveling. With the Multicoverage Plus and Frequent Travel Packages, the maximum reimbursement while aboard an aircraft is $500,000 and $100,000 while traveling. With the Multicoverage Package, the maximum reimbursement is $100,000 while aboard an aircraft and $25,000 while travelling.

Baggage

Compensates you if your baggage is stolen, delayed or damaged. Covers replacement of a passport, visa, driver’s license or birth certificate. With the Multicoverage Plus Package, the maximum reimbursement is $1,500. With the Multicoverage and Frequent Travel Packages, the maximum reimbursement is $500.

Trip cancellation

Covers expenses related to the cancellation of a trip due to the causes recognized by the Insurer. Before departure, the maximum amount is $2,000 and after departure, the amount is unlimited.

Some restrictions apply.

Notices

Limitations for Pre-Existing Medical Conditions

Emergency Health Care and Trip Cancellation do not cover pre-existing injuries and medical conditions or any related conditions if, during the reference period, you were awaiting medical test results or:

  • consulted a physician;
  • took medication;
  • were hospitalized;
  • received treatment;

or were advised to do any of the above by a physician.

The reference period is:

  • the 6 months before the effective date of coverage if you are age 54 or under
  • the 12 months before the effective date of coverage if you are age 55 or over

This limitation does not apply if the medical condition remained stable during the reference period. “Stable” means that there has been no hospitalization or increase in treatment or medication dosage. In the case of a diabetic or of someone taking Coumadin, “stable dosage” is not a factor that is considered.

Other Exclusions

In certain circumstances that are too risky, the Insurer may decide not to pay the benefits provided for under the contract. The “Limitations, Restrictions and Exclusions” section in the guide-policy lists these occurrences.

Trips Outside of North America

Planning a trip outside of Canada, the United States and Mexico?
Some Desjardins Access card-holders have experienced difficulties when trying to withdraw money at ATMs of certain banks affiliated with the PLUSTM network abroad.

To avoid this inconvenience at any PLUSTM network ATMs located outside of North America, we can replace your Desjardins Access Card, as a preventive measure. With your new card, you will be able to travel worry free.
