If you become ill or are injured while travelling outside your province of residence, you, or the person accompanying you, must contact the Travel Assistance Service immediately. If you fail to do so within 24 hours of the event, you will have to pay 20% of the first US$2,500 that would otherwise be eligible for reimbursement.
Make sure you have the following information handy:
your contract number
your departure and return dates
the name and phone number of your physician
the name of the person to contact in an emergency and his or her phone number
The following information must be provided:
Caller’s information (name, phone number, etc.).
Information about the sick or injured person (name, date of birth, permanent address, phone number, SIN, other travel insurance).
Where the sick or injured person can be reached.
Information about the attending physician(s) abroad (name, phone number, etc.).
What medication the insured is currently taking.
A summary of the circumstances under which the illness or injury occurred.
